Sea Tourtle Watch !!!

Cabo Pulmo a 3 de Agosto de 2004.

Hola everybody !!!

Here we are in the beautiful East Cape, at Cabo Pulmo National Park, where there is a lot of good diving!!
These past few days we have been diving with 100 feet of visibility and 86-degree water conditions. There are of course a lot of fish everywhere: schooling jacks, schooling snappers, eels, white tip reef sharks, green sea turtles, manta rays and sting rays!!

The highlight for this week was a 15-foot whale shark around the outer reef!!

I recently spoke to the SEMARNAT & PROFEPA (Fish & Game & Environmental Protection Agencies from La Paz), and they are really concerned about the green turtles arriving to nest for this season. There is a law that bans vehicles from the entire Baja coastline, to protect critical turtle habitat, but resources are needed to post signs and hire officials to enforce the law. They will make the signs if we can help them get the materials, and they will also enforce the law with a Ranger in the area that may be paid by the community.
It’s our sea turtle time of the year so I will keep you post about it!
So please let us know if you can help us in any way
