Hola everybody !! Well, let me tell you whats been happening in the Cabo Pulmo Park area, first it all the diving has been really nice , this winter we did not have that much plankton like other years, the water temperature drop only for a couple of weeks down to 60 degrees, but it’s been remaining in the upper 70’s, also this winter the local University from La Paz, had done a studied on whales in our area, they affirmed that this is a santuary for the Humpback Whales due to the most concentration of groups of whales as well as the most giving births in this area, so they will take the proposal to the federal government to make it official. As far as the coral reefs are concern, there is a project on the monitoreo of the coral reefs and Fish been make by Hector Reyes whom he was a graduated student from the local University but now it’s doing his Master degree in Miami Marine Biologist University, so he is coming this May to show us the progress of the project and tell us all about the coral reefs from Cabo Pulmo so I will keep you post. And recenly I was apointed as the new President for the Non Profit “ Patronato Cabo del Este. A.C. , which is the Organization that has been supporting the Marine Park ever since became a Marine Park, so if you can help me to find ways of supporting it we will accept any kinds of ways to get it going again, this Non Profit has a Tax Deduction in Mexico as well as in The United States. In the last couple of weeks I had been working with the local Park Rangers to figh the ilegal fishing in the area and we had confiscated a couple of fishing boats with their equipment, it is sad to see all the amount of Manta Rays and Hammerheads and other kinds of species been kill by this fisherman using nets, all due to the lack of budget from our government, I had talk to them and they say they willing to train some of us and give us an official credential, but we have to equiped our selfs, we need to crear a fund for vehicules, boats binoculars, GPS, etc.. so if you can help me please let me know.
